Mena Massoud

Mena Massoud was an Egyptian-Canadian actor who came to prominence with a lead role in a live action adaptation of one of Disney's most beloved animated classics. Born in Cairo, Egypt, Massoud was raised in Markham, Ontario. He first caught the acting bug when he portrayed Peter Pan in an elementary school play. After receiving his degree in Theater and Acting from Ryerson University, Massoud broke into the business in 2011, making appearances in the short film "What Happens Next" (2011), and the TV action thriller "Nikita" (The CW, 2010-13), while also earning his first series regular gig on the animated series "The 99" (The Hub, 2011-13). He soon made his feature length film debut in the comedy "Let's Rap" (2015), while taking small roles in such TV series as "King" (Showcase, 2011-12), "Open Heart" (TeenNick, 2015), and "Saving Hope" (CTV, 2012-17). 2017 turned out to be Massoud's biggest year yet, as he was cast in two major projects: the Tom Clancy-inspired TV series "Jack Ryan" (Amazon, 2018-), and as the titular role in Disney's live action update of their 90s animated classic "Aladdin" (2018).
