Go Forth Children

The countryside is green and the soldiers are dressed in blue with red trousers. The armies are on the move. The war is still young, as are the men, "Here we are!" cry lieutenants Porchon and Genevoix.

The illusion is quickly shattered, both for Genevoix and the men he commands. The first fighting is violent. The French are constantly obliged to fall-back. Maurice Genevoix kills his first Germans. The group loses its first man.

Attacks against the rocky peak held by the Germans are intensifying. Lieutenant Porchon, Genevoix's friend, with whom he shared everything, is killed.
