S1, E2: Joanna begins her journey in Mumbai, before travelling through the western state of Gujarat and on to exotic Rajasthan. At the Gateway to India on Mumbai harbour, she faces the beautiful stone archway through which she left India in 1947. Joanna explores the caste system of India, which is strongly tied to Hinduism and segregates people into social groups from birth. The system is supposedly illegal in India but the hierarchy still exists in practice.
