
S1, E4: This fourth episode explores the pleasures and perils of upland moors and in particular the legendary Dartmoor National Park. Pausing for a rest in a moorland church, Griff spots his challenge posted on the hymn board - Griff, solve a mystery of the moor! There are mysteries and legends to be found everywhere on Dartmoor. Griff's first mystery is the ghostly plantation of Wistman's Wood, home to the terrifying Wish hounds. Then the eerie story of the Hairy Hands; phantom hands that appear from nowhere and cause cars to crash on a particular bridge with often disastrous results. The very scary Fox Tor Mires was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's inspiration for the Grimpen Mire where the Hound of the Baskervilles appears. But Griff has fun along the way too, walking with llamas on the moor, developing his "weaseling" skills, and discovering the difference between a Devonshire and a Cornish cream tea! Risking life and limbs Griff eventually solves a mystery of the moor and it's got something to do with Dartmoor's ubiquitous granite!
