The Gurrs

S1, E1: Chris Gurr is a lorry driver, and Rebecca Gurr works for the NHS, both are from Kent and both are significantly overweight. Chris is on medication to control his blood pressure and cholesterol, Rebecca cannot shake, or explain, her constant fatigue. They explain to Michael that they eat healthily, cooking meals from scratch, and are practically addicted to broccoli. However. Like 80 percent of us, they do not tell their doctor the FULL truth about what goes in their trolley. When Michael goes undercover at the checkout, he discovers the shocking truth including a Gobsmacking 38 pints of cola a week, for Chris alone. Rebecca loves 'wine o' clock', as their shopping shows, and a dangerously high level of ultra-processed food. And it turns out there is a worrying reason for Rebecca's tiredness which Michael quickly uncovers and begins overhauling their diet immediately. In this episode he also tests the viral tiktok recipe for 'healthy' coke and tells us the secret of good snacking.
