Stifled by his life of marriage and academia, he finds himself drawn to Anna (Jacqueline Sassard), a beautiful young student who is already engaged to William (Michael York, Cabaret), another of Steven's students. A shifting love triangle ensues, which seems destined to end in tragedy.
