Banned on its original release in 2004, as the real-life trial it deals with was still sub judice, Anurag Kashyap's gritty film is a million miles from standard Bollywood fantasies. Centring on the 1993 terrorist bombings in Mumbai when 12 bombs were set off in the space of two hours, leaving 300 dead, the film is based on an account of these traumatic events by journalist S. Hussain Zaidi.
