A 12-year-old boy wakes up to find he can talk to his new dog, Hubble. He finds out that dogs originally came to earth to colonise it and Hubble has been sent here on a mission from space by the Greater Dane to see if this destiny has been fulfilled. When he discovers that dogs are merely pets, it is a race against time to prepare the local dogs for the Greater Dane's visit - or risk being removed from the planet.
