Gianni leaves his small hometown near Bologna to complete his military service in Naples. He falls in love with Carla, the daughter of his commanding officer, who opposes their relationship. After gaining attention as a singer, Gianni becomes infatuated with Beatrice and accompanies her to the Aeolian Islands, where his feelings are put to the test.
