P-38 Lightning

The P-38 LIGHTNING was a twin-engine interceptor of the U.S. Air Force. Primarily used for reconnaissance flights, the fast and maneuverable aircraft proved to be very effective. It was also used as an escort fighter for long-range bombers. However, it proved to be too cumbersome in aerial combat with German fighters.
