The Secrets of Bogs

Peatlands contain more carbon than all the ground vegetation combined. Melting permafrost peatlands can become a major source of greenhouse gas emissions, and damaged bogs will speed up global warming. If the carbon in the peatlands is released into the atmosphere, it would be an ecological disaster. But if we harness the power of these carbon sinks, we could slow down climate change.
