Philippe, runs a fire brigade barracks in the South of France. During a summer-long heatwave, blazing fires spark up all over the countryside, some more suspicious than others. When Bénédicte arrives; a warrant officer of the same rank, tensions within the brigade intensify to new levels. When the brigade are called to a terrible car crash, Bénédicte finds herself reaching for new depths of courage and bravery, as one man's life hangs in the balance.
