The teams meet host Mark Richardson in Auckland as they begin their race to The Block. The four teams have to race to Motat to participate in the Honda Traffic Jam Challenge.

When the teams wake up after a chilly night, the realisation of the amount of work that awaits them begins to sink in. In the assignment, the teams have to make furniture from trash. The best piece of furniture wins an upgrade for their kitchen.

There's a lot at stake as the teams rush to get the first themed hotel suites finished. They make bold choices and take risks, while the winner faces a difficult decision.

The deadline looms for the big reveal. For one team, their days on The Block NZ could be numbered.

The teams receive a Canon camera to take a photo which will be printed on aluminium, canvas or glass. Jury member Jeremy Hansen chooses a winner for the prize dinner. After the assignment, the teams continue to work on the garage.
