After a man is found bludgeoned to death on the side of the road, the squad teams up with another detective who believes that he is hunting the same roadside killer; Maura discovers that her identity has been stolen.

Sandy and Kirsten legally adopt Ryan. The newest member of the Cohen clan ends up escorting Marissa to Cotillion, where Seth meets up with Anna Stern, a new student from Pittsburgh. At the festivities, Jimmy's clients discover that he has been stealing their money and a fist fight breaks out.

Scully pursues a photographer who can seemingly predict the deaths of other people.

The Warden is faced with a major dilemma and needs Earl's help. He promises Earl six months off his sentence if he helps him to start a course that will mediate a situation between an inmate and their victim. The inmate agrees to comply if Earl throws a prison prom, as he missed his at high school. Earl turns to Joy to help plan the prom and soon discovers that it will cost him the rest of his lottery winnings.
