Benjamin Ayres

Ben Ayres was a Canadian actor who became an acclaimed and familiar presence in his native country's films and television programs. Born in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, Ayres made his screen debut with a cameo in a 2007 episode of the classic LGBT+ series "The L Word" (Showtime, 2004-09). The next year, he landed the role that propelled him to stardom, playing the death-obsessed, chain smoking sex addict Casper Jesperson (aka Cancer Cowboy) on the series "jPod" (CBC, 2008), based on the Douglas Coupland novel of the same name. Though that series was short-lived, Ayres soon found himself on another acclaimed program, joining the dramatic sitcom "Less Than Kind" (HBO Canada, 2008-2013) just in time for the show's second season. Yet another acclaimed sitcom followed when Ayres played Mike Norman on the small town satire "Dan For Mayor" (CTV/The Comedy Network, 2010-11). Ayres' next role gained him some attention in America: he was a supporting player on the supernatural medical drama "Saving Hope" (NBC/CTV, 2012-17) for the entire five-season run. Following the ending of "Saving Hope," Ayres was cast as Alan Christie on the drama series "Burden of Truth" (CBC, 2018).
