Amateur cooks compete to be crowned king or queen of all things culinary in Canada by tackling challenges given to them by judges Claudio Aprile, Michael Bonacini and Alvin Leung.

The contestants are tasked with preparing food for a high-end dinner party for eight culinary insiders.

The cooks face their first mystery-box challenge; the winner will choose an Asian dish for the other cooks to make.

In the first team contest, the chefs cook lunch for the Cirque du Soleil stars and crew.

The remaining chefs have just 60 minutes to perfectly replicate a luxurious seafood platter featuring complex components.

The last eight contestant must cook a dish using ingredients chosen by their rivals.
