Elen Rhys

Elen Rhys was a Welsh actress who in 2015 broke out in the United States with a role on Kurt Sutter's new historical series "The Bastard Executioner" (FX, 2015). Born and raised in Wales, Rhys always had a desire to become a professional actress. However, given that she lived thousands of miles away from Los Angeles, the international hub of film and television production, geography proved to be the biggest barrier preventing her from Hollywood stardom. Undeterred, in the mid-2000s Rhys started auditioning for film and TV roles in the U.K. In 2007 she landed a small part on the British science fiction series "Torchwood" (BBC, 2006-11), and followed that up with guest spots on the Welsh language show "Y Pris" (S4C, 2007-09). Rhys landed her first big break in 2009 when she was cast as a flighty blonde named Maddie on the teen drama "Trinity" (ITV2, 2009). That show, however, was cancelled after its first season. In the years that followed Rhys continued landing parts in both movies and TV shows, including the Welsh historical series "Pen Talar" (S4C, 2010), as well as the American action-adventure film starring Nicholas Cage "Season of the Witch" (2011). Rhys' next big film role came in 2013 when she nabbed a small part alongside Brad Pitt in the zombie apocalypse movie "World War Z." Then in 2015 Rhys received the biggest break of her career after being cast in Kurt Sutter's new historical series set in 14th Century Wales, "The Bastard Executioner." The series debuted on FX in September of 2015 with Rhys playing the role of Petra Brattle.
