George O. Petrie

Veteran television and film actor George Petrie is best known for his collaborations with Jackie Gleason and his role on the series "Dallas." He appeared in over 120 roles on film and television throughout his career, beginning in the 1944 feature "Winged Victory." His television debut occurred in 1951 on the series "Two Girls Named Smith." In 1952 Petrie first collaborated with Jackie Gleason, appearing on "The Jackie Gleason Show" 42 times from 1952 to 1957. During this time he collaborated with Gleason on 14 episodes of "The Honeymooners" as well. In 1962 Petrie co-starred in the Oscar-winning film "Gypsy" and followed with one of the most notable roles of his career, alongside Paul Newman in the classic "Hud." In 1979, he landed another famous role as Harv Smithfield on the soap series "Dallas." He appeared in 50 episodes from 1979 to 1991 and also was a featured in the TV film "Dallas: J.R. Returns."
