Carrie and Doug decide marriage counselling is in order and turn to their neighbour for help, but his techniques only make things worse.

Holly is upset when she learns Carrie was using her to have access to her van; Doug has an argument with a waitress who takes too long to deliver his food.

Carrie, still unemployed, helps Holly with dog walking. Meanwhile, Arthur sells his burial plot to Spence's mother, Veronica.

When Carrie has to work the night shift, Doug starts to get lonely, but soon discovers that Arthur is the ideal companion to keep him company.

Doug borrows a baby from Danny to prove to Carrie that they're ready for a family. Meanwhile, Arthur feels he deserves to be a coffee shop's `customer of the month'.
