Bill meets Russell Edgington, the Vampire King of Mississippi, who wants to use Bill in his plan to obtain more power. In Bill's absence, Jessica seeks Pam's advice to get herself out of a rather sticky situation. Sam spends more time with his birth family, but his zeal isn't welcomed by all of his newfound relatives, while Tara finds unlikely solace in the shifty vampire Franklin Mott.

While Eric and Bill have doubts they will survive the search for Russell Edgington, Pam tries to be a good maker to Tara. Elsewhere, Lafayette puts Sookie's life in danger.

Salome and the Chancellors celebrate the start of the vampire holy war, while Sookie learns more about her parents' death and Eric plans his escape.

While the Authority celebrate their new direction, Sookie and Jason visit the place where their parents died.

A band of rogue H-vamps attacks Bon Temps, Sookie seeks refuge from accusations, and Bill gets help from an unexpected source.
