Eager to return to Rome after eight years of war, Caesar ends his campaign with a resounding triumph in Gaul. Back in Rome, Caesar's old friend Pompey is counselled by the Senate, who worry about Caesar's growing popularity. Meanwhile, two soldiers are enlisted to find the army's stolen gold standard.

Merlin has an unexpected meeting with the mysterious Taliesin (Karl Johnson). The wizened old sorcerer takes the young warlock to the crystal cave and shows him a glimpse of the future. But this gift turns out to be more of a curse when, to his horror, Merlin sees Morgana set to kill Uther. Merlin knows he must do all that he can to stop the future from playing out. But changing the pages of destiny is a dangerous game and his actions have fatal consequences. With the whole of Camelot in a state of grief, can the young warlock undo the damage he has caused, or is it too late?

After being anointed People's Tribune by Caesar, Mark Antony returns to Rome with Octavian's liberators, Vorenus and Pullo. After being praised and welcomed by a grateful Atia, Vorenus heads home to his family, for the first time in eight years, while Pullo heads for the brothels.

With Caesar advancing on Rome, Pompey orders a retreat and forces his citizens to pick sides. Meanwhile, Timon is forced to do Atia's dirty work and Vorenus cannot understand why no one is resisting while on a scouting mission.

As Caesar makes a triumphant return to Rome, a beleaguered Pompey sends his son back to the city to track down the missing treasury gold. Meanwhile, Vorenus's attempts to start a new life go disastrously wrong.
