Lex Scott Davis

Lex Scott Davis found fame playing Toni Braxton in the R&B singer's biopic, "Unbreak My Heart" (Lifetime, 2016) before landing a recurring role in the TV adaptation "Training Day" (CBS, 2017-). Born in Baltimore, MD in 19921, Davis began performing aged just three and later honed her talents at her hometown's African-American community theatre. After studying Dance and Physical Therapy at Drexel University, she attended the New York Film Academy and made her acting debut in crime drama short "Two Strangers" (2014). That same year she starred in and co-wrote "Colorblind" (2014), a short film exploring race relations, while in 2015 she made the leap to television with a brief cameo in relationship sitcom "The Exes" (TVLand, 2011-15) and added "The Reunion" (2015), a short about a sexual assault at a teenage party, to her list of credits. Having appeared as an extra in NWA story "Straight Outta Compton" (2015), Davis then enjoyed far more screentime in another music biopic when she was cast as husky-voiced R&B diva Toni Braxton in "Unbreak My Heart" (Lifetime, 2016). Co-produced by Braxton herself, the TV movie became the Lifetime network's highest-rated production since the similarly-themed "Whitney" (Lifetime, 2015) the year previously, and saw Davis earn rave reviews. Davis then appeared in her first recurring role as Justin Cornwell's smart but cynical wife Alyse Craig in "Training Day" (CBS, 2017-), the adaptation of the same-named 2001 crime thriller starring Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke.
