A man desperate to save his crumbling marriage asks Walter to get his hands on the Cuban delicacy `ropa veija', the meal over which he and his wife first fell in love. However, the finder discovers the restaurant that served the food was run by a Mob boss, and the former workers are either missing or in witness protection - so he begins a difficult journey to locate the chef.

A young woman is found bludgeoned to death in the home of the prime suspect from a cold case 13 years ago. As the team look for clues in the current murder, there are flashbacks to the original case.

Tang and Cooper's past physical problems are put to the test when they are attacked on the street by a "perp." Lydia and Ruben investigate a convenience store murder, and Lydia uses her typical compassionate charm to collect facts on her suspect from an unassuming grandmother (guest star MARLA GIBBS). Ben and Sammy ride with another officer who is prone to small mistakes. And Joel Rucker (guest star CARL LUMBLY) takes over as the new captain.

Meredith (Ari Graynor) steps up to help Ginny (Kristin Davis) finish the yearbook and recover from a bad breakup. Principal Carl (David Alan Grier) coaches Kim (Caitlin Kimball) on the Teacher’s Exam.
