Michael Fishman

Known to countless fans the world over as the precocious DJ Tanner on the classic sitcom "Roseanne" (ABC, 1988-1997; 2018-), Michael Fishman first became a well-known actor when he joined the series at the young age of 7. Born in Los Angeles, Fishman essentially grew up before the eyes of the show's massive audience, sticking with the series until it wrapped in 1997. He would go on to make some minor appearances on an episode of "Seinfeld" (NBC, 1989-1998) and in the science fiction film "A.I. Artificial Intelligence," but Fishman largely retired from acting following "Roseanne." He continued to serve as a spokesperson for charitable organizations including the Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, and the Red Cross, but for the most part, Fishman spent the ensuing 20 years coaching youth baseball and working in carpentry to support his family. Eventually, Fishman's two interests in woodworking and baseball led to him providing award-nominated production design for the series "Sport Science" (Fox Sports Net, 2007-) in 2007. Fishman himself continued to remain out of the spotlight however, until 2018 when he rejoined his "Roseanne" castmates and reprised the role of D.J. for a hotly anticipated reboot of the series. When the show was canceled and subsequently rebooted as "The Conners" (ABC 2018-) following the star s social media meltdown in the summer of 2018, Fishman remained part of the cast.
