The CSI team investigates two unusual cases, one involving the suspicious death of a go-cart racer, and the other a murder at a hip new restaurant where patrons dine in the dark.

Sipowicz is doing a little studying and Medavoy catches him, he confesses that he is studying for the sergeant's exam. Medavoy quips that Sipowicz's career is on the upswing, while his own is going down.

Sipowicz and Clark Jr are at the scene of a vandalised apartment, where the victim is the father of the perpetrator, a schizophrenic. He doesn't want to press charges.

An unidentified young Hispanic boy is abducted from a Spanish Harlem street. Jack and the team are completely baffled when no family members come forward to look for the child. After searching the neighbourhood, the agents discover that the boy, Nelson Rodriguez may have been stalked by a paedophile who recently moved into the neighbourhood. It is also possible that Nelson is involved in some form of illegal activity.
