Carla is upset by an obnoxious Yankees supporter who loudly proclaims his distaste for the Red Sox. He confronts Sam with his former drinking problem and Carla retaliates. Diane offers to help by suggesting Carla seek anger management.

An old friend of Sam's is now a local sportscaster and asks to interview Sam. When Sam agrees, he realises how much he misses his former sports celebrity status, and when the interview falls through he is bitterly disappointed.

When Sam's former flatmate Tom reveals that he is homosexual, Sam supports him in coming out. However, the regulars at Cheers are less pleased, as they fear that it could turn the bar into a gay hangout.

While Carla is in hospital having a baby, her seemingly innocent sister is filling in for her. All the men fall madly in love with her, but Carla's sister is not as innocent as she looks.

Sam lets the sexy appeal of a female agent and the glamour of the public spotlight lure him into being a TV pitchman. He is presented with an irrefusable proposal, which causes Diane to warn Sam about.

Diane still has a thing for Sam's brother, and he invites her to go with him to Paris. She confesses to him that she loves Sam and returns to Cheers to give him one more chance and acknowledge that he loves her too.
