The BAU team springs into action when a school bus full of children goes missing near Washington, D.C.

With the school board threatening to pull their funds, Janine and Gregory decide to help Ava out with her presentation, their plan is derailed when a curveball is thrown at Ava; Barbara offends Melissa when she doesn't agree with her blackmail idea.

The NCIS team must investigate a series of crime scenes that appear to be copycats of previous cases. Also, two of Gibbs' ex-wives, one of which the team has yet to meet, show up at a crime scene to discuss something important with him.

In the third season premiere, after spending the summer in New York City, Zoe is ready to make her move more permanent, but first she must return to BlueBell for one last thing. Upon her return, Zoe discovers that no one in town is very happy to see her, except for Lavon. Desperate for Brick to give her a good reference, she agrees to help him track down George and get him to resurrect the Founders Day parade that has been canceled. Needing to find George quickly, Zoe enlists Lemon's help, but accidentally discovers Lemon is hiding a dirty little secret. Meanwhile, Lemon devises a plan to help Wade save face in front of Zoe. Recurring guest star Josh Cooke (Dexter) appears as Joel.

Zoe beings to grow leery of how much time Joel (recurring guest star Josh Cooke) and Wade hang out, especially when it begins to interfere with Joel's writing. Ready to blame it all on Wade, Zoe does her best to entice Joel back into writing. Lavon is using the excuse of coaching his track team to avoid talking to AnnaBeth. Meanwhile, Lemon encourages Brick to start dating again, and George and Lynly (recurring guest star Antoinette Robertson) discuss whether they want to talk to Lavon about their feelings for each other.
