The fourth series begins with Griffith Park ablaze and the fire threatening major sections of Los Angeles. Originally called in to assist with crowd control, Brenda and the PHD switch gears and take control of a murder investigation when a woman's body is discovered amid the chaos. Plus, the temperature is rising in Brenda's personal life as she and Fritz get under each other's skin while temporarily sharing an apartment.

When the drowned bodies of a mother and daughter are found by fishermen, Brenda and the team must determine if the apparent suicides are more than that. Following a strange series of discoveries, the most surprising revelation that surfaces is the killer's identity.

When the wife of a major crime boss is murdered while in FBI custody, Brenda and the LAPD face off against Fritz and the FBI for jurisdiction. As the case unfolds, the team learns that today's Mafia doesn't follow the traditional rules any more. Brenda also suspects that the agent supposedly protecting the crime lord was corrupt and hastily prepares to interrogate him before the FBI can regain control of the investigation.

Brenda and Fritz's wedding day is approaching but both bride and groom are preoccupied by work. Fritz is on the tail of a drug lord known as El Jefe and Brenda is involved in a murder case. Will they make it down the aisle?

While investigating the homicide of an entire family, the team once again finds themselves entangled in an FBI case. They also find themselves distracted by an unusually surly Provenza.
