When Alan and Judith argue during a rehearsal of a play that Jake and his classmates are rehearsing, Charlie is forced to handle a roomful of fourth graders alone. The kids think Charlie is a loser until they realize he wrote the "Maple Loops" cereal jingle. When Charlie discovers the children know every jingle he's ever written, he decides to use his commercial expertise to craft the play--with some interesting results.
As Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) tries to be the cool mom to Erica (Hayley Orrantia) and her friends, Adam’s (Sean Giambrone) computer skills are tested when he wants to join Barry’s (Troy Gentile) posse.
When Pops accidentally starts a fire in his apartment during a Halloween party, he’s evicted and Beverly invites him to move into the Goldbergs’ home. Pops’ wild lifestyle is soon too much for the family to handle and they decide to look into other options.
A modeling representative approaches Barry in the mall, which leads him to believe he's about to become famous, while Beverly threatens the rep to land her son a gig. Elsewhere, Adam tries to make peace between Murray and his grumpy Pop-Pop.
Beverly is ordered to clean out the garage by Murray, who wants everything gone except for one trunk that he's particularly sentimental about. Meanwhile, Adam and Barry discover Erica's old collection of New Kids on the Block memorabilia.
