The BAU team flies to Iowa to investigate the disappearance of three 10-year-old children, who appear to have been abducted from their homes. The surveillance video from a park is the team's only lead to finding the children's whereabouts.

As Boyd (Walton Goggins) and Arlo (Raymond J. Barry) negotiate a truce in their war with the Bennetts, Loretta McCready (Kaitlyn Dever) has taken her foster father’s gun and is en route back to Harlan. The team searches for Audrey West, a young mother with one month to live. She was last seen leaving a gathering of fellow cancer patients with Ryan, a guy who crashed the party and stole some of the attendees' prescription drugs. While the team tries to locate Ryan, who they learn is the drug-addicted boyfriend of Audrey's hospice nurse, they also want to question Audrey's boss, renowned architect Brian.
