Stefan visits in order to make sure she does not remember what happened to her, but his attempt to use his powers on her is cut short. Mr Tanner makes Aunt Jenna feel that she is failing as a parent to the Gilbert siblings, and Elena goes to talk to Stefan - but finds his brother Damon instead.

Deacon worries about his developing relationship with Maddie. Elsewhere, Juliette performs at a private party for a wealthy couple.

Edgehill's new boss isn't interested in Juliette's goal to mature as an artist. Rayna, meanwhile, mounts her comeback with Will and Scarlett attached to her label.

After Katherine's attack on her, a confused and desperate Caroline checks herself out of the hospital and joins her friends at the Mystic Falls Carnival, but her new nature causes serious problems. Damon has a drastic solution, but Stefan and Elena come to Caroline's defence while a shocked Bonnie turns her anger on the elder Salvatore. Meanwhile, Damon's suspicions about Mason Lockwood grow.
