Agony

No-one is happy with Jane. Her boss Diana and mother Bea are both critical of her, and husband Laurence has decided to leave her because she has no time for him.

Jane is trying to come to terms with Laurence having left her. Amid the attentions of her interfering mother Bea, her friends offer her lots of advice ranging from joining a sex club, to having an affair, to becoming gay.

In an attempt to spice up their marriage, Jane tries a disastrous new look and Laurence buys some 'marital aids'.

Jane is in despair following a declaration from her husband Laurence that he has fallen in love with another woman. Laurence suggests an open marriage, but Jane is horrified by the prospect and wastes no time in trying to make him jealous.

Jane and Laurence are together again, but she has no time for him because of work commitments and trying to solve the relationship problems of her gay neighbours Michael and Rob.

Laurence's resolution to be a masterful husband backfires when Jane decides to follow her own advice given to a woman caller: leave him.
