1939-1941

On September 1, 1939, Germany's invasion of Poland throws the world into war. No longer a European affair, the conflict spreads in the Pacific. Japan has been at war with China since 1937.

In 1941, Hitler invaded the USSR. `Operation Barbarossa' stalls as winter hits and Soviet resistance, fuelled by propaganda, turns the tide.
