Awaiting Kirin

In Mino during the late Muromachi Period, the young Akechi Mitsuhide asks his lord, Saito Dosan, for permission to travel to Kyoto. Dosan grants his request on one condition: that he return with firearms and a renowned doctor to treat his wife.

During a period of civil war in Japan, military leader Akechi Mitsuhide rises in defiance of his brutal superior, Oda Nobunaga.

Six months after the Battle of Kanoguchi, Kicho rides on horseback to the Akechi estate to visit Mitsuhide. Deep in her heart, Kicho carries profound grief for her husband, Yorizumi, who was poisoned to death.

The day Toan Mochizuki returns to Kyoto, Dosan, knowing that Toan has been secretly communicating with Nobuhide Oda, orders him to send information about the Oda clan back to Mino. When Toan hesitates, Dosan takes Koma hostage, forcing Toan to comply, and appoints Mitsuhide as Toan's contact.
