Banged Up: Teens Behind Bars

Britain has the largest prison population in Europe, and knife crime has risen sixty four percent in the past five years. In `Banged Up: Teens Behind Bars', eight British teenage louts are incarcerated in one of America's toughest jails in an effort to divert them from a life of crime and mend their ways. Based upon a version of an existing American intervention programme for juvenile criminals, the teenagers, six boys and two girls aged 15 to 17, are jailed in Brevard County Jail in central Florida, home to 1600 prisoners who have been charged with crimes ranging from theft and prostitution to multiple murder.
