Charles I: To Kill a King

Charles I is visited by the Earl of Denbigh, seeking to broker terms between him and parliament. When his visit is rejected, new legislation is drawn up to try the king for treason.

The country prepares for the unprecedented trial of the king, which sees Charles I and the Lord President John Bradshaw become embroiled in a battle of wills.

After two days of witness testimonies, the evidence against the king is overwhelming. Charles I is found guilty of treason and is sentenced to be executed.
