Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, The End of Evangelion, and Anime's impact on the mainstream with Polygon's Chris Plante

The Anime Effect is closing out the Anime Awards 2024 with final takeaways, shoutouts, and favorite moments. Catch all this, as well as the latest updates on the Kaiju No. 8 anime, One-Punch Man Season 3, and more. Today’s episode was released late, as we wanted to acknowledge the passing of Akira Toriyama. This episode was recorded before his death was announced.

The Anime Effect dishes on their favorite announcements from Mario Day and all the new anime coming out this year, like Demon Slayer, DAN DA DAN, and BLUE LOCK: Episode Nagi. But FIRST, the gang is gushing over Godzilla Minus One and The Boy and the Heron after its Oscar wins.

The Anime Effect is counting down the most anticipated anime of the spring season, including Kaiju No. 8, KONOSUBA S3, Black Butler, WINDBREAKER, and more. But FIRST, the hosts run down the new Hunter x Hunter & Reebok collection, the upcoming One Piece Music Symphony, and the gang asks: which Suicide Squad ISEKAI character they’re most excited to see.
