DIY SOS

Derbyshire is the destination for Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team as they travel to Chesterfield to help Lisa and Richard Watson and their young family. Their daughter Madison was born with a heart defect and a rare eating disorder that requires 24-hour care from Lisa. Richard is a builder who began an extension to their home to accommodate his expanding family.

Nick Knowles and the team travel to a beautiful village in the Welsh countryside to help a widower and his eight-year-old daughter. Through illness and family loss, David and Erica Williams have been living in a dilapidated caravan for six years. The caravan stands next to the shell of a new build that was once going to be their family home. Erica's mother died two years ago, just as the house was beginning to take shape.

Nick Knowles and the team head to Enfield where they meet Eric Rivers, a keen sportsman who is gradually being deprived of the use of his body by motor neurone disease. Eric is a passionate communicator and a keen advocate for the value of life. Eric, his wife Davina and their three daughters need their terraced house adapted for Eric's needs. They also need additional room.

Nick Knowles and the DIY team head to Dumfries in Scotland to meet Sue, whose partner Barry died of a sudden heart attack in 2003, leaving her suffering from depression, dealing with two young children and living in a house that was falling apart. The team enlist the aid of their very own tartan army to tackle this build and try to help get this family back on track.

Nick Knowles and the team join forces with an army of local tradespeople to come to the aid of a family in Dudley. All three children in the Whitehouse family have an inherited condition called Fragile X Syndrome. The symptoms vary, but their youngest son has been hit hardest and has learning difficulties. Dad Wayne and mum Joanne attempted to build an extension to their house to try and cope.

Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team travel to Duxford near Cambridge. They enlist the aid of local trades to help Paul and Sarah Behan, who had just started an extension to their tiny bungalow when their young son Joshua was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of liver cancer. Joshua's cancer meant the extension had to be abandoned just when it became more necessary than ever.
