Journalist Fiona Bruce teams up with art dealer Philip Mould, who has been dubbed `the art detective', to investigate remarkable stories of well known paintings. From time-to-time paintings purported to be famous artists appear which cause a stir in the art world. From Paris and Amsterdam to Cape Town and New York, the team employs old-fashioned detective skills to research the provenance of the paintings, as well as the latest forensic testing to reveal compelling tales of lost masterpieces, forgeries and thefts.

His small oil painting depicting a ballet dancer on stage has always been thought to be a work by Edgar Hilaire Degas. Unfortunately, since the 1970s, experts have not agreed.
