First Descent: Michoacán

The rivers in Michoacán, Mexico, promise to be a kayaker's paradise for six adventurous friends. But their preparation in Veracruz quickly reminds them just how dangerous this wilderness sport can be.

The kayaking buddies spend their first days in Michoacán scouting unexplored waterways and jungles, and encountering dangerous situations, before they even get in a boat.

After an aerial scout of Rio Cajones, the guys realise they must rappel down a sheer canyon wall because the waterfall is too dangerous to go over. But at the bottom they find their best run yet.

Seeking a final adventure to wrap up the trip, but with dropping water levels and the threat of dangerous neighbours keeping them away from unexplored waterways, the kayakers return to an earlier run.

An early start leads to an epic descent in the canyons of Rio El Hoyo del Aire near the town of Uruapan, and the guys have the ride of their lives discovering a new jewel of kayaking.
