Inspired by the real-life Emergency Task Force of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, this taut police drama chronicles the efforts of the Strategic Response Unit (SRU), an elite and highly skilled group of cops charged with rescuing hostages, defusing bombs and breaking up gangs. The series title comes from another part of their job, however: getting inside a suspect's head and discovering his emotional `flashpoint' that triggered the crisis in the first place.

The SRU team must stop a crazed man who has planted some complicated bombs throughout the city. One SRU member will not survive.

The team welcomes a new member and begins work straight away in trying to rescue a girl who is kidnapped by a man who thinks she is his daughter.

The Farm

A young woman named Rachel attempts to rob a gas station taking three hostages in the process. After the SRU diffuses the standoff and rescues the hostages, Rachel pleads with them to save her son from a place called `The Farm', a secretive group of recovering addicts led by her husband Charles.

Custody

Believing his children to have been kidnapped by their mother after she lost custody of them, Donald takes her lawyer, whom he thinks helped her kidnap them, hostage. The SRU team must race to diffuse the situation with Donald and discover who took the children.

A radio show host holds a politician at gun point, live on air and threatens to kill him if he does not admit that he killed someone while driving drunk.

At a storied coliseum that is scheduled for demolition, a sniper takes up a position, shooting at anything that moves in the centre rink; and Sam must wrestle with his own demons while attempting to talk the suspect down.
