Irv is struggling to bring his record label back from near death and he hopes to hit the jackpot with his number one artist, Ja Rule. At the same time, he is trying to convince his family to move into a larger house.

Irv is willing to go through nearly anything to promote his artist Lloyd. He is so totally preoccupied with work, however, that he is finding it nearly impossible to communicate or relate to his daughter Angie.

Murder Inc, having dropped Lloyd's album this week, is tracking the numbers closely as they are neck and neck to take the number one position in album sales.

Irv steps outside his comfort zone when he signs new artists Flashy and pop star Vanessa Carlton. Meanwhile, Deb puts all her focus on trying to meet new men.

Irv gets distracted by the perks and benefits of working in the music industry, choosing to go clubbing and hitting on women instead of finding a single for Ja. Unhappy with his decisions, Deb decides to confront him.

Irv takes Ja into the studio with the intention of formulating his next chart-topping hit, while Deb comes to the difficult realisation that her relationship with Irv is in a bad place and will never be the same again.
