The SS transport 139 prominent prisoners from 17 European countries on April 26 1945. The Nazis hoped to use the prisoners as bargaining chips as they faced imminent defeat.
A group moves unhindered through the Brenner Pass, which separates Austria from Italy. They stop in a small village and SS leaders attempt to contact their superiors. Their prisoners exit the buses on their own initiative and mingle with the people.
