It Takes a Flood
From Academy Award-winning director Kevin Macdonald comes a film about extreme flooding in the UK, which takes viewers inside the homes of people seriously affected by the increasingly ferocious floods hitting the country. With one in six British homes now at risk of flooding, we meet horrified homeowners as floodwater pours out of toilets during the flash floods that hit London in the summer of 2021. We meet the man whose house was flooded up to the gutter after Storm Ciara in 2020 and another whose house was left hanging off a cliff after the Beast from the East in 2018. For the victims, the effects of being flooded can be devastating and traumatic, but help is at hand in the shape of Ravi Singh and his disaster relief charity, which doesn't distinguish between a flood in Bangladesh and one in Hebden Bridge.
