Elizabeth need help from a man in fixing her husband's dinner. Elizabeth decorates the house in a jungle theme to distract from a problem. Alvin becomes flirtatious with friend Claudette Underhill while his wife is stuck with her dullard husband.

Alvin and Elizabeth get irritated while trying to share their work space. Elizabeth is ready to go to the masquerade, while Alvin's ready for a formal banquet. Elizabeth drives a piano tuner mad.

Alvin beats Elizabeth at ping-pong. Alvin brags about fixing the roof, but it leaks during a storm. A vacuum cleaner salesman drops by and thinks they are planning his demise.

Elizabeth schemes to go on Alvin's business trip; Alvin explains how the car engine works to Elizabeth; and Alvin's friend, Richard, is tasked with delivering a birdbath.

Elizabeth tries to convince Alvin to let her plant an oak tree in the middle of their patio. Alvin attempts to repair his malfunctioning TV set by himself. Elizabeth and Alvin attempt to deal with a charmless carhop at a drive-in movie theatre.

Elizabeth has trouble reading her mother's letter; Elizabeth is not excited about the lodge dinner; Alvin's friend gets fired.
