Although many of these people moved to experience a different way of life, some still miss aspects of British culture - although they may be glad to have left the climate behind. The series looks at some of the small communities of Brits who are enjoying their new lives in France - and who are bringing Britain with them. They have set up cricket teams, opened tea shops and even begun running a fish and chip van in this very French rural location. The programme follows some wonderful characters and hears some fascinating stories. In the first episode, the show meets the couple from Sheffield who operate the fish and chip van, and two expats who organise weddings at the stunning Chateau Pitray on the banks of the river Dordogne.
