In the 1950s, Elvis initially went straight up. However, the conscription to the military and the sudden death of his beloved mother Gladys plunge Elvis into a crisis. This is followed by affairs and an incipient drug addiction.
After two years of military service, Elvis begins a film career, with very measurable success. Elvis is in the military when he meets 14-year-old Priscilla Beaulieu, who he marries.
Elvis makes a comeback in the 1970s and successfully returns to the stage. Privately, the signs point to a new beginning with the divorce from Priscilla. As before, however, his demons and a deep loneliness bother him.
