Please Sir!

Bernard Hedges, a recently qualified teacher, arrives at Fenn Street secondary school raring to start his new job. He soon discovers that the students, and even some of the staff, may not be quite what he imagined them to be.

Bernard has to be tactful when he discovers that a rather unseemly picture, of one of his students, has been circulating the school.

When a student, rather inconveniently, develops a crush on him, Bernard finds himself at the mercy of the rumour mill.

Bernard has trouble enough pronouncing his name, but it would appear that Abapellogopholis is determined to make things more than intolerable for his new teacher.

Bernard is extremely disappointed when he allows class 5C to look after the library key, only to have his trust abused.

Bernard finds his usual routine disrupted when an old flame turns up as a trainee teacher, at Fenn Street secondary school.
