When the matriarch Brita Nelihanka, who for a long time ruled over the wastelands in the north, dies, the relatives gather to distribute the inheritance.

Brita Nelihanka, a great arctic matriarch, loses her fight against cancer. When her renewed will and its beneficiaries are revealed at the funeral, the entire family is torn apart, and many past secrets are beginning to unfold.

Sara Poikkipaa inherits her father's lands back from Brita and learns that she now controls the lands with Pieti and Sameli. As Sara had an affair with Sameli before he was imprisoned for her dad's murder, she now must face him.

Sameli still has feelings for Sara and makes a shocking confession to her about her father's death. In the meantime, Sameli is trying to get a loan from Stagge, the ruthless man who rules the underworld of the arctic harbours.

As Sara's ex-husband is seeking sole custody of their son and Sameli undertakes a drug smuggling operation from Stagge, a detective from the National Bureau of Investigation arrives and reopens the case of Ville Poikkipaa's death.

As Pieti negotiates with the Chinese about the mines, Sameli finds out the true nature of Rouku's business. In the aftermath of the drug smuggling operation, two Wolverine members decide to stash the product in Sara's cabin.

Sameli's deadline for the taxes has expired, and Stagge is pressuring him. In the meantime, Sara gets bad news about the child custody proceedings. She has a final confrontation with Rouku, whom she blames for everything.
