Richard E. Grant’s Very Modern Odyssey

Richard E. Grant embarks on an adventure in search of the locations that inspired Homer's 'Odyssey', starting in Malta, the island nation steeped in epic history that many people believe was the paradise ruled by the irresistible goddess Calypso.

Richard's epic Mediterranean adventure brings him to vibrant Sicily, the home of Cyclops, where he cooks with a Duchess in Palermo, climbs a volcano, discovers the secrets of an ancient temple and performs in an ancient amphitheatre.

In Tunisia, home to the lotus-eaters, Richard looks for the hypnotic lotus fruit. There's also some ancient fishing. Then it's back to Italy seeking the enchantress Circe.

On Corfu, Richard receives as warm a welcome as Odysseus did, cooks lunch for Lee Durrell, widow of legendary zoologist Gerald, brushes up on his archery skills and finally lands at Odysseus' home of Ithaca.
